Group Analysis and Heir-Equations for Thin Liquid Films

چکیده
Lie group analysis is applied to a mathematical model for thin liquid films, namely nonlinear fourth order partial differential equation in two independent variables. A three-dimensional symmetry algebra found and reductions ordinary equations are obtained by using its one-dimensional subalgebras. Two of these studied the reduction method Jacobi last multiplier method, be linearizable. Furthermore, G-equation ?-equation, heir-equations iterating nonclassical symmetries constructed different acquired two-dimensional subalgebras, respectively.

The stability of thin liquid coatings is of fundamental interest in everyday life. Homogeneous and non-volatile liquid coatings may dewet either by heterogeneous nucleation, thermal nucleation, or spinodal dewetting. Wetting and dewetting is explained on a fundamental level, including a discussion of relevant interactions. The chapter will also address the various dewetting scenarios and explai...
متن کاملDescribing Myxococcus xanthus Aggregation Using Ostwald Ripening Equations for Thin Liquid Films
When starved, a swarm of millions of Myxococcus xanthus cells coordinate their movement from outward swarming to inward coalescence. The cells then execute a synchronous program of multicellular development, arranging themselves into dome shaped aggregates. Over the course of development, about half of the initial aggregates disappear, while others persist and mature into fruiting bodies. This ...
متن کاملLong-scale evolution of thin liquid films
Macroscopic thin liquid films are entities that are important in biophysics, physics, and engineering, as well as in natural settings. They can be composed of common liquids such as water or oil, rheologically complex materials such as polymers solutions or melts, or complex mixtures of phases or components. When the films are subjected to the action of various mechanical, thermal, or structura...
متن کاملSpontaneous Rupture of Thin Liquid Films
The rupture of a liquid film on a solid surface and of a free liquid film have been studied using hydrodynamic stability theory. The films are not thicker than several hundred hgstrom. A sinall perturbation applied to the free interface generates motions in the film, and the assumption is made that the NavierStokes equations can be used to describe them. The difference in forces acting upon an ...
